Clayartists:
In getting ready for summer camp & my pottery classes.
I am looking for a 06 clear gloss glaze recipie so I can dip kids' projects
as opposed to brushing on a clear glaze. My current resource of glaze
recipes is Chappell's book.
Does anyone have any other recipes for a 06 clear gloss glaze?
What does anyone think of the following:
eg-85
25.8 colmenite
41.6 pemco frit # 25
32.6 kaolin
1 tsp. c.m.c.
eg-88
1.3 silica
15.0 spodumene
83.7 ferro frit #3134
1.0 bentonite
1 tsp c.m.c.

Grace;
I'm presently using a 50/50 % Gerstley Borate and Nepheline Syenite mix
run thru three times
80 screen. I've used it over Amaco underglazes with great results . Test it
for yourself before
making a batch. You might also try adding small amount of colorants for
other experiments over
different bright underglazes.
Good luck.

Parson's Clear Satin Glaze
Flint (325) 42%
Gerstleys Borate 38%
Nepheline Syenite 5%
Lithium Carbonate 10%
Edgar's Plastic Kaolin 5%
I have found this a very reliable satin glaze on terracotta (Sophie's Orange
from Axner), porcelain (P5 from Highwater) & a white stoneware (Max's White
with Kyanite from Axner). No crazing or pinholing problems on any of the
clays. It takes stains & colorant chemicals beautifully.

you mentioned...is the work functional or decorative? Lori in new Port
