kiln vents again-puzzlement

Ok I know that kiln vents have been done recently. And the nice people at =
L=26L
sent me info on their system. Very informative and prompt.

But I still have a question. In the info it says to (I think I read this =
right)
to close all the peep holes and turn on the vent when firing. I understood =
this
on the envirovent system it had in-holes and out-holes. But as far as I can =
see
the L=26L system only has an out-hole. I couldn't find any more in the =
literature.
I looked at the system at Odyssey last weekend and that seemed to be set up =
the
same way.
I thought that this would set up a 'reducing' atmosphere even in an electric
kiln without fresh air coming in during the organics burn out phase of =
firing.
Am I just not getting this? Or did I miss something?

Celia - hoping to build a freestanding studio soon - if I only knew then =
what I
know now - and not wanting to do that this time around.

If I'm not mistaken, you will need to also put a small hole in the top (lid)
of the kiln as an air intake.
I have an L&L kiln and love it! I hope to add a vent soon.

OBTW, The President of L&L (Steve, I think) monitors this listserver.
Excellent support again!
