The Homer area is crawling with potters. Jack Walsh, who now lives next
door to Nils Lou in Oregon, used to teach ceramics at Homer High School
and built one of the best high school ceramics programs on the planet.
Consequently, Homer loves and appreciates clay, and it is a great town.
I taught a workshop there seven years ago and it was a truly memorable
experience. I was just talking with my wife about wanting to go back
there, soon.
You might check with the Homer Council on the Arts, (907)235-4288,
which, I think, is still run by Joy Steward. She can point you toward
the area potters. Also, do go over to Halibut Cove. It is worth the
trip.
