I met up with mudpie (aka julia townsend) in Chicago this
past weekend. We had a nice lunch and I "borrowed" a bunch
of ideas. Thanks Julia!!

We sent to an art fair in St Charles, there were 2 different
Raku potters there. One was using a clay from great lakes (I
think) that had little if any grog. He seems to have
great results with it. I was very impressed with a glaze
that he used that produced a mirror like finish

Does anyone have a recipes for either clay or this "mirror"
glaze?

ps, the other potter was using silver nitrate and producing
gold lusters, I remember using silver nitrate in high school
chemistry, not something that I enjoyed getting on me. How
is it used in a glaze without constantly getting it all over
your hands?

Hi Jeff,
The group in which I do Raku has a gold raku glaze and, whenever I
use it, I wear latex gloves. Still manage to get a little on my hands but
hardly anything.
