Looking for potters in northern Ireland, Belfast area or surrounding.
Please let me know if you're out there or if you know of any there.
Thanks!

Would you like to tell us why you want to contact someone in Belfast, =
Northern
Ireland? What for?
Will Ballymena do? I know of a potter and artist living there, but not =
internet
active/accessible as far as I know. I will ask if they would like me pass on=
the
name and address or not. You will appreciate it is not for me to pass on
information to a third party without their prior knowledge or consent,
especially when they live in this sensitive country....

We need to find some potters in Ireland too=21 (North and South) As we can =
see the
Emerald Isle and the Wicklow Mountains across the water on a good day, it =
would
be nice to include some Irish work in The International Potters=92 Path. =
However,
although I wrote to The Crafts Council of Ireland (=3D Eire) and the Pottery
Association, there was no feed-back from these austere bodies. Like all the =
US
ceramic magazines, they would only mention The Path if we paid for an =
advert...

Now, I know some people have weird and wonderful ideas about galleries and =
how
wealthy they are, but we (Eckhard and I) are far from rich because we only =
earn
about 25 pence per hour (together - not each=21). We are also asking people =
to
make a tile and post it to include in The Path, at their expense. What would
they say, if we started paying for advertising, even if we could afford it?
In return for a tile, each maker will get a photo of it in the finished Path=
and
all documentation at the end of the project. All participants are invited to=
the
Grand Opening on 31.12.1999 and we hope to have an image of each tile on the=
web
site by the start of the 2K....

Where ever you live and work, if you are interested in participating in this
initiative by potters around the world, please see the web site for exact
details.

Well, since you asked so politely.....
I have a friend there who wants to get a potter to make something for him. I'd
it here, but the mail would just crush it. Reckon that's a valid reason to want
contact an artist in Belfast, Northern Ireland? Does this reason pass your
inspection?

Internet connectivity is not necessary; my friend lives near Belfast and will ri
if said potter has a telephone.

Thanks for your help.

I'm planning a 10 day trip to Scotland and Ireland during May 2006. The focus of the trip is not clay but I am insisting we stop to visit some potters and ceramic galleries while there. Can anyone suggest who I shouldn't miss while there? Which galleries are recommended? I prefer functional/raku/pit-fired type work rather than sculptural.

Thanks so much.
