glass lid for the kiln

Jeannette I loved your idea of a clear glass lid!! Just hooted with laughter
as I simply can't resist having a peak and sometimes even more then a peak.
I've been known to open Christmas presents and re-wrap them in the dark of
night. Distinct genetic flaws no doubt.. your brilliant suggestion solves
one of my problems! Have a great day!

I have used a thin piece of glass ( from a broken picture frame )
mounted in the spie hole. The glass never melted , but dunted ( cracked
) at about 1080 C each firing. Fired to C12 touching its toes.
Nice to be able to looking into the kiln during reduction and not have a
flame belching into my face.
