My mother is an artist..and as a child I accompanied her to creeks..old
mansions... fields.. and she would paint as I played. This was my
kindergarten. A few years ago I noticed that whenever we
went to galleries or openings together.... all I would hear from her is:
"that's not art, that's crap".... or the inverse..
"that's pretty"...

I finally asked mother that if the piece does not evoke a positive response
for her not say anything.
It was ruining my enjoyment of the art experience. I explained that
"pretty" was not what everyone is trying to achieve.
When I experience a piece that I do not particularly like.. I just go on to
another work or
I think "what would I have done different.?" For me that becomes a mental
creative exercise without
passing judgment on some other individuals creativity. We are fortunate to
have been created and now to create...

So... I love to see art... bring it on... the more the better for all
man/womanpotterkind.....
And may those that feel the need to critique....remember that it is better
to
spend that mental exercise thinking of things to create yourself...
