Assumption Abbey on sat 12 jun 99
Dear Readers:
I have been working with porcelain now for a couple years and really
love the smooth white stuff. . .except for the 'cracking-in-drying' bit!
You know what I mean. Lately I made around 25-30 pots and lost maybe 6 so
that isn't too bad but still I'd like to find another porcelain body that
might be more forgiving and let me relax a bit! You know what I mean. I
prefer to work with ECC (English China Clay) but am open to suggestions. I
have bought some pyrophyllite earlier and am ready to try anything. What
about additions of talc? Does anyone have a Claybody formula they would
like to share. I would love to be able to work with something nice and
white, carving beautifully, translucent would be great. . . and mature
around cone 9 (gas reduction). Any hints or help you can write CLAYART or
my address : E-mail -(lkouba@pop.ctctel.com)
Invariabley the one you spend hours on carving- will be the one that
'might' crack?
Thank you
Sincerely,
Llewellyn Kouba
