Remember the farmyard product I refered to in an earlier post-
Someone just stepped in it again.
A "higher sense of aesthetics" sometimes is just a cover for either
"effete" or "decadent" or even "stagnant". Western culture has been
evolving for millinia also, but has not been so static or isolated. In
addition- the melting pot of the many cultures labelled "western" has many
advantages. For one thing- there are lots of ideas to borrow, file the
serial numbers off, and re-issue as new.
Dont get me wrong- I admire much of what I have seen of the Japanese
culture- but only in a position alongside many others, not ahead. I have
some small Persian bowls that rival ANY out of Japan. On the other hand-
Japanese brush work is hard to beat.- And- so it goes.
Bill- waxing irate at another small pile of BS, here, safely in command (as
long as Iris lets me) of Persimmon Hill.
