Subject: Zinc Oxide. Misinformation, an apology , a correction.
Sorry to cause so many people concern. Bad editing on my part, mea culpa.
The information about Zinc and its Oxide should be
Zinc, metal- Melting Point 419.58deg C. Boiling Point 913deg C
Zinc oxide- Melting Point 1975 deg C.
It seems at though the colour change from white to yellow when it is hot is
because some (ppm)of the oxygen is driven away. It is explained in N. N.
Greenwood and A. Earnshaw, Chemistry of the Elements, 2nd edition. P1208.
Hope that clears up any confusion I have caused
Regard,
Ivor.
