Hi everyone, I am back on my old subject...unfamiliar raw materials.
Today I am in search for the right ball clay. I tried some Kentuckey as
a shot in the dark but it does not seem to be the right one. Previously
I used what we called B13. This was a beige colored ball clay with a
high green strength and plasticity. I need this for a slip or englobe
on my pots that I burnish. I also do some sgraffito on them. I was able
to fire this to cone 7 or 8 previously. Maybe someone can come up with
a good suggestion. I include the recipe. Thanks so far.
Kaolin 550
B13(ball clay) 150unfimilier
Whiting 100
P Feldspar 100
Silica 150

Hi Antoinette...can't you get the source of your desired ball clay from the
studio you were in before? It seems a waste of energy to test others when
you already know the one that works for you. Lori in New Port Richey
