Do any of you bisque fire in your gas kiln? Any special problems related
to this practice?
(clip)
Do it all the time.....have for about 30 years. We used to do all the
elective classes bisques at Massart in gas kilns. For one year even did
bisques in a noborigama there (long story on that one).
Same rate of climb issues as any type of kiln. Have to have burners / kiln
system capable of oxidation...... which most gas kilns will do if designed
and operated correctly.
If you have the option, figure your electric vs gas costs for equivalent
cubic footage and see if bisquing in the gas kiln makes sense. The
convenience of the programable controllers is the main asset I see to
bisquing in an electric kiln.
