This was something that was never really driven home to me even after 5 =
years of
clay in Universities. Vitrification differences, etc. but somehow I too
basically thought that glaze was a sealer. I recently read another article =
3/98
C.M. where Jeff Zamek talks about the components of a =22perfect clay =
body=22
(right, does not exist) He says just that..it is the clay that holds water, =
not
the glaze. Glaze is surface, not seal.

I thought that was an important point in =22Clay 101=22 and felt very =
unimformed for
all my education. Goes to show how important reading is.
