Does anyone know of a source for price tags, ideally 1/2" x 3/4", that
come in 8 1/2 x 11 sheets for laser printers. I haven't found any at
Office Depot or Staples here in Portland. It sure would make making
labels for shows go a lot faster.
Thanks,

Hi, Paul - I have some computer labels that are 1/2" x
1-3/4", 80 to a sheet. We use them for pricing---each label holds two
copies of our logo and name, and room for the price to be handwritten in. I
then use my paper cutter to cut each strip of double-labels in half, giving
us 160 price tags per sheet, with our logo and name on them. They look
pretty professional---only close inspection shows that one side of each
label is cut straight and the other has curved corners. What I have is MACO
IJ-8025, and it says on the box that it's the same as Avery Dennison #8167.
If anyone knows of sheets that come with 160 labels/sheet, I'd like to know
about them!

I have been using a lazer printer for over 12 years and have yet to find
labels that do not work. All the manufacturers stuff about labels
suitable/unsuitable may have some reason (like they usually cost more if
"suitable for laser printers") but as long as your printer has a feeder
which accepts various sheet sizes, there should be no problem. In my
experience they never peel off or jam the printer.
I am currently using labels for a dot matrix printer without trouble (just
tear off the single sheets) with the only restriction being no printing on a
7 mm margin (on A4 paper). This is printer related and I just use the first
unused row of labels for floppy disks, file labels, etc.
Any good stationary dept. should surely have labels the size you want? As
long as you have a programme that will work to the mm you can then print
labels to your hearts content. I use either Adobe PageMaker or MS Word but
the size you require would be a bit difficult to set up with the latter. It
does not really like non-standard sheet sizes, but if you work at it long
enough, it should work in the end. Do not forget to save the dimensions as a
"custom label" for next time.
Good luck.
