we cast the lids in pieces.
kurt built a 2X4 form, filled it with sheet plastic.
put it on a nice flat place, poured and pounded.
we added stainless needles to the mix.
as per instruction from a.p.greene. fired them to 1800 f.
all water and dry mix is to per instructions from a.p.greene.

we take the lids off for loading....the lids on the fire box stay in place.

today we hauled two trailers and two truck loads of walnut strips to
the farm....kiln dried....we have a big bundle of pine strips...(amish wood,
they use it for cook stoves.) a double cord of pine slabs, and a double cord
of oak slabs...
we can now fire two or three times in the train. phew, not bad work
though...the place that gives us the wood, helped us load.
we now have at least three locations that will give us all the wood
we can carry away. (kiln dried)

we have one picture on dannon's camera of the train kiln
with real wheels.
will post it one day.
