providing pointers to url's

I notice a lot of people on Clayart will give a URL without the http://
in front of it. If you spell out the complete path, it will become a
hyperlink in the email message for people who are using html aware mail
systems. Makes it a lot easier to just click and go instead of having to
copy the info into your browser's locator and add the http:// to the
front. Also, if you include your URL in your signature, do likewise. You
want to make it as easy as possible for people to come visit you!

Most browsers don't need the 'http://' in order to find the site. Nect
time you see a 'naked' URL, try just highlighting it, CTL-C to COPY,
highlight the address string in the browser, and CTL-V to paste/replace
it, then hit return. In all likelihood, you'll get there.

i think you missed the point being made here. that being ... "html aware
mail systesms" these systems do not recognize url's without the http://
and so you must copy and paste rather than just clicking on a link
created in the body of the email. yes, copy and paste is easy, but why
make more work when you don't have to. it's a good idea to include the
http:// because not ALL broswers support urls without it, and people who
are new to the Internet may not know all of this. so i think this was a
good suggestion for all of us to include the http://

as for giving keyboard short cuts for copy and paste, don't assume we
are all using a Windoze machine. when you are talking with a group of
people across the world remember that we don't all have the same
software/hardware available.

just my 2 cents worth.
