My wife and I are going to Arkansas (north west corner) on the 6th or Aug. We
land in Tulsa, OK. We hope to travel by car to Penland in NC and perhaps stop
by some potteries on the way. If you know of any place on that route please
let me know. We are potters in San Diego, CA. Stop by our studio if you come
to S. CA . We do high fire stoneware and porcelain, mostly functional, for 25
years now. We are in the phone book, David Cuzick pottery.

I did a trip through Tennessee a few years ago and remember stopping at a
pottery off of the interstate (I think it was hwy 40). It was a fantastic
place, a house converted to showing very fine stoneware and porcelain. I
remember the owner was a potter too, he did crystal glaze on porcelain. He
also had a very fine early American jug collection. Anyone know the name and
location of that place?

Thanks, David Cuzick

if you are already as far as Penland...

go a little further to Seagrove, there are 80 potteries
there and the North Carolina Pottery Museum.

If you search it on Lycos, there are pictures/maps...

If you want to read about it first, get a book called
"Turners and Burners" by Zug...

David,
On your trip to NC a visit through Bakersville, NC just north of Penland is a
great attraction to my wife and I as frequent the area often, Suze Lindsay is
a must see though she is hard to find as the road she is on has no street
sign! Maps are available everywhere in the area of Penland. Also, Cynthia
Bringle is "across the way" from Penland if you like her work.
