Aloha Richard,
Glass separator is basically kiln wash.
Powdered alumina 60% and pure kaolin ( EPK ) 40%.
It can even be mixed 50-50.
Some commercial separators have a small percentage of other modifiers.
So give a test run to make sure the glass she's using isn't a weird one.

If you compare regular kiln wash with glass separator, you will find the
texture is completely different. When fusing, sagging, slumping, it important
to be able to "fingersand". You use about 7 coats of glass separator. Glass
will pick up the exact texture of the shelf, mold, etc.
