Just wanted to post a reminder, as we still have space in Mario Quilles'
Handbuilding/Glazing/Raku Firinf Workshop for August. It has been a
beautiful summer in Santa Fe, and people have enjoyed both the workshops
and being here, the next one is Aug 16-20:

Hand Building/Glazing /Firing
Five Day Workshops: Mon- Fri.

Raku is an exciting and spontaneous Japanese Firing process. Vessels are
taken out of the kiln while "red hot" and reduced, or smoked in leaves or
other combustible materials.

This workshop covers several methods of hand building, including Mario's
distinctive approach to his slip welded and folded
constructions, slab, coil building, clay manipulation, both structure and
finish options,
reshaping, welding, cutting and altering techniques. Mario makes his own
tools from wood native to the southwest, and will share his approach to
tool making. Raku glaze making and testing is part of this workshop, clay
and glazes will be provided.

Participants are encouraged to bring bisque pieces to fire. Time
permitting, pieces made on the first day will be bisque and then raku
fired.

Limited to 5 participants per workshop.

Fee: $275. includes materials & firing.
You can check out Mario's work at www.ventanafineart.com, you have to look
around in the site a bit to find it. Hope to see you in Santa Fe!
