To David and Diane Chen and Sandy Dwiggins,

Here is another suggestion on how to do molds and how to release casted
slips from plaster molds......

I've been doing plaster mold production and earthenware pottery
using
the slip casting method which uses plaster molds for about three years
now and we normally use mild bar soap (the kind you use for laundry)
diluted in water with a little kerosene added as the separator for
making molds.

What we do is we just brush the solution of soap, water and kerosene on
the side of the set plaster where you want to pour in the new plaster.
This solution is suppose to prevent the newly poured plaster from
sticking to the plaster that has already set. Why does it not stick?
I
don't really know why but it works me. Releasing the newly poured
plaster is a little bit tough. You have to give it a few good whacks
with a rubber mallet but don't worry it will release. The fine
details
you were talking about might need a little bit of retouching though.
Hope I helped out.
