A while back - I can't find the exact mail anymore - there was discussion
about where to buy the silicon carbide necessary for the local reduction red
glazes. I just got back from a Gem & Mineral show, where I found a source:

Tired Ted's Gems
PO Box 2344
Lancaster, SC 29721
803-273-3402
Tired Ted's True Grit 220 grit $4.50 all packed in 1 lb plastic jars
600 grit 6.50
800 grit 6.50

Another source I found appears to be between tthe 220 and the 600 - maybe it
is the 325 FFF??? It was not marked - Daven's Ceramic Supply, $8.50 one lb,
less for 5+. 1-800-695-4805

Looking at them, the lower mesh looks like metal filings, and the higher
mesh is like a fine dust - the finer the mesh, the lighter the color.
Amy in Hotlanta, where cranking up my kiln raised the temp 5 degrees city-wide!
