Hi Tom,
I just posted some questions about this in a view to adding wax to clear =
glazes
to reduce crazing and
gloss. From yours and Monona's responses, it clearly sounds like this is
nothing I will try. Best find a new glaze all together.

I normally use latex for my pots feet or bottoms before glazing. Is that =
one of
the reists you can recommend?
I like it because it is fun to peel off..but primarily because I can peel it=
off
if it drips.

Maria Harris, Have you read these posts and changed your mind about using =
them
in your glaze? Not to be an alarmist, but I hope you reconsider wax as an
additive due to the apparent health/environment hazard. Let me know what
alternatives you find if you go away from wax.

Best regards,
Alisa

Gavin's posting on this subject made me think about our candle sub-culture =
here
in Denmark.
I have nothing scientifically grounded to offer, just some thoughts as this
thread has caught my
attention regarding both studio and home use of burning paraffins.

It took me a while to accustom (spelling?) myself to the many, many candles =
that
burn in Denmark both in private and public sectors. As it was explained to =
me,
this because our nights are so long and it is =22cozy=22. Cozy is a =
national
passtime here with subjects and verbs for making, doing and feeling =
=22cozy=22 in
many aspects of life. Candles are the traditional gift one gives when =
coming
over for dinner, burned in banks and nursery schools, multitudes of them =
burned
during advent and at Christmas, etc. etc.
(You can bet we do not have the sueing for endangerment, negligence, etc. =
that
we do in America). I was nontheless nervous for candles burning in my kid's
nursery. But it goes.

It just seemed to me that, Denmark,a country so admirably environmentally
concerned, would raise and address this issue if it was really dangerous in =
the
degrees that I have mentioned above. But again, the amount of smokers in
Denmark is on the rise. I am thinking out loud.
