transparent glazes, and lead

Since we're talking about clear glazes and lead these days, I thought
I'd combine the two. My premanufactured glaze says on the label "clear
glazes without lead need two thin coats or they may become milky." No
matter how thin I try to go, I get milky spots. Is this true, or is it
just their glaze and they are trying to justify it? Do you get problems
with milkyness on your own recipies?
Thanks
