Hi Carol,
You aren't alone in this problem! I, too, do all handbuilding and a lot of
underglaze painting. I am also trying to keep up with orders and not
succeeding. I feel lucky that my work is in demand and just do what I can.
(I usually work about 10 hours a day -- no hubby or kids).
The only way out of the problem that I can see is to hire help, which I do
NOT want to do. I'm happier than I've ever been "making my art" and don't
care to make a "business" out of it in that sense. Instead I am slowly
raising my prices and relishing this new life I have doing what I love.
Hope that's helpful,
Karen in Sonoma

I would be very interested in hearing about everyones work schdedules. I
hand build and have a home studio. I do alot of underglaze painting on many
of my forms. I do a varity of peices and enjoy making all of them. My idea
was to work in clay one week and then allow myself to paint and glaze the
next, but all these pesky shows are getting in the way of my ideal work
schedule :) I have made myself a production sheet so I can see what I am
getting done but as it gets closer to the show I don't even fill that out.
By the way I have 2 children 8 &12, a hubby, a dog, a cat and 3 hamsters. Is
there any hope??
