firing tall pot

The one time I had a pot too tall for my kiln (elec) I did both the bisque
and glaze firings by laying several rows of bricks on top of the kiln (lid
open position) and placing kiln shelves on top. Then I spread ceramic
fiber over the whole thing for insulation. Worked just great. There was
another recent post that mentioned doing something similar- you must have
missed it.

I just re-read your letter and realize you may have a gas kiln . Can you
bisque fire it as you suggested and maybe it will shrink enough so it will
only have to be propped off vertical less than the point at which it will
tip over. Good luck.
