------------------
Just back from visiting Linda John, who must be one of the most =
multi-talented
potters working in the UK today. No, you will not have heard of her... Linda=
is
not a =22name=22. Should be, but is not good at =22self promotion=22 and =
lives out here
in the wilds of Wales.

Anyway, having extolled the beauty of Clay Art to her, this posting is on =
her
behalf...

She has a client who brought a smoked and burnished, coiled pot back because=
it
had =22faded=22 down one side. Yes, it had stood in a south-facing window. =
Linda was
very upset and said she could not understand what had caused this... In =
theory,
the carbon surely fires into the body and is fixed? How come it faded? Can
anyone explain and offer a solution?

Linda uses natural beeswax to create the final sheen. Are there better
alternatives? Anyone found a longer lasting alternative that does not need
re-buffing, albeit only once a year or so?

I will pass on you thoughts... Many thanks for your help from Linda
and from me
