computer dust

My first computer was a second-hand 386. It worked without a glitch for a
few months and I left it on all day long, although not in my clay
workplace. One day I smelt burning plastic and went to check it. Smoke
was billowing out of the monitor. I unplugged everything and once it had
all cooled down I opened up the monitor to find that all the components
were covered in a thick layer of dust which had caught fire. Amazingly
enough, once I had thoroughly cleaned everything, the monitor functioned
as before, and 4 years later it is still being used on a 'spare' computer.
So beware of any kind of dust (this was the 'fluffy' kind, more inflammable
than clay, I suppose).
