Hello: I am hoping to develop a glaze or a slip that has a similar
appearance as oxidized aluminum (you know, like a bad looking aluminum storm
door) or pewter. I need some help with where to start and am hoping that
someone might have some base recipes from where I could start some tests. I
am making some sculptures working in cone 6 oxidation but a glaze or slip at
any cone would be helpful. Thanks for any help.

Hi,
There is a crystalline black around that does exactly as you want. I'll try to
dig up
the recipe. It's around here some where. You can see sample on my web page.

Hi,
Here's the Crystalline Black ^6. I got it from Don Goodrich's list of ^6 glazes.

This is the first glaze I mixed together and it was before I had talked to Ron.
This is a little light on silica. I do not use it on food surfaces (the cobalt
and copper
bother me), but it is very pewter metallic looking and goes well with some of my
work.
I used cobalt and copper carb.
