Hello Clayarters,

I was wondering if oxyprobes can be used in a salt environment?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, or if it has been asked before.

This question comes up often enough so an answer for the list is
appropriate. Yes and no. In the fire up stage before salting it is ok
during the time you want to measure degree of reduction. At Cone 8 or so
when salting might begin (where I do) the probe should be removed. While
sodium vapors will not to the eye glaze the sensor tip I think it wise not
to expose it to the vapors. Nils

Thank you for your suggestion. I would like to streamline my firings,
and being in a semiresidential area, it would be nice to reduce
without so much smoke, so I think the Oxyprobe is in my near future.
You designed the one that AXNER sells?

Thanks!
