mentor . . . okay, but where?

In Wendy Rosen's book, Crafting As a Business (great book), one of the
requirements she emphasizes, when taking your passion to a
professional level, is that one should have a mentor. Does anyone
know where one would find a mentor? To a large extent, this list
serves a mentor role (I'm sorry, but you guys are just wonderful for
that). Is that sufficient? Should I be seeking out an individual
mentor in my area? And if so, does anyone know how I would go about
doing that?

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

My turn for the two cents...

I would have to say Yes this serves well. A few years ago I was researching
AA NA and such programs for a paper. I decided that I would check the web
first. Not thinking I would find any thing I found every thing from AA to ZZ
it seemed. Well, not only did I find more than I wanted to see or know about
I found that AA conducts meetings on line at specific times in a chat group
thingiee. Well, we are definitely not anonymous, but we sure do have a chat
group thingie, just in a different format and at out leisure. So with this in
mind, Yes we are all mentors and mentored to.

I live in a fairly small area that seems to have quite a few potters for our
size. For the most part I consider my fellow potters to be mentors and
friends. We can discuss and share all issues from forming, glazing,
chemicals and marketing. Maybe you can find other potters in your area who
are willing to share their wisdom. Good luck.
