home-made wheel

We have a kiln and have been working with tiles and hand-made items (pinch
pots, etc.). I've never thrown anything and would like to try. I'm not ready
to invest several hundred dollars in a commercial wheel, and I've been
unable to find any courses (adult ed, etc.) available within a reasonable
distance at an affordable price. Does anybody have any ideas or plans for
building a wheel from scratch? Sure would appreciate some help.

directions for making a homemade kickwheel. I have one that was
homemade . I would love to use it more - kind of an open air studio
- however it has a discrepancy in the weight of the horizontal disk you
kick to power the movement . Four cap blocks were used for weight
,it's just not enough . To make it workable , I will have to pull it
apart and fill the voids between the cap blocks with cement for more
weight . I thought maybe this info might save you some hassle down
the road. Good Luck !
