Clay & Mythology: the search for the holy grail

September 17-19, 1999
Banff Centre for the Arts

This workshop focuses on vessels: vessels for which the chief criteria
are not the specific concerns of practical usage, but rather the
symbolic functions of contemplation, inquiry and ritual. Through the
clay work and the employment of mythological thinking we will address
archetypal patterns of belief and meaning that will deepen our personal
work. The workshop will develop and grow from the traditional myths and
stories of the Search for the Holy Grail as a means of exploring one's
personal creativity. This workshop is led by George Kokis who is a
Professor of Ceramic Art at the University of Oregon and who has taught
his unique clay workshops throughout the U.S. and at other venues across
the country.
Beginners and experienced clay workers at all levels are equally welcome
and encouraged to participate.
Cost: $225
