I'm new to California and have heard that if you use glazes with lead in them
that you need to mark your work as such. I've searched that Clayart archives
for exactly what you're supposed to put on the work, but to no avail. Does
anyone know?
Thanks, and yes I know, lead-based glazes are not a good idea. I am phasing
them out.

Welcome to our fair state!
Be careful when firing those lead-based glazes! I don't know how strict LA's
air quality laws are, but if you're using a kiln with outside exhaust, be
wary of the "air quality police!" I believe LA has one of the tightest
restrictions on what goes in the air--you may want to check the LA AQMD (Air
Quality Management District) website for details. I don't have the URL at
this computer.
As far as labelling the wares glazed with lead-based ingredients--it's the
law, but it mostly applies to manufactured dinnerware. The text of this law
is found at the CA State Attorney General's website. Sorry I don't have the
specific URL for this one, either.
