Dear Sherry:

Check with the magazine "Pottery In Australia". They sell a booklet called
"Layed Back Wood Firing' by Steve Harris or Harrison??? It's only about four
or five dollars and it it wonderful. He has plans in the back for a small
crossdraft, single bourry box kiln as well as all the information you need on
firing one of these kilns. The "Pottery In Australia" magazine may also have
some back issues on wood firing. Get them! The one with the St. George Kiln,
showing the comparative proportions on the fireboxes, flues, throat channels,
etc., was the one I used when I designed my double bourry box kiln. The
measurements used were based on Steve's recommendations as well.
The magazine does have a web page. You can find it using any of the search
engines like: http://www.metacrawler.com

Regards,
June

FYI The web site for Pottery in Australia can be found easily using the
metacrawler. And Good News! they actually have the article on line. I was quit
please I'm in the process of installing a small wood fired kiln If there is an
other advice out there about conventinal and raku wood firing I would love to
hear about it.I've had one classroom experience with a hot smoke wood fired up
draft kiln but not much else
