Hi Clayarters,
I am looking for someone to teach Ceramics I and 3D Design at Augusta
State University in the spring. This would be starting January, 2000.
This could be a good opportunity for a new MFA who is working towards a
college teaching career and who needs college level teaching experience
beyond grad school.
Ceramics I covers all basic aspects of handbuilding and a solid
introduction to throwing. We also do raku, electric firing at 04, and
introduce students to the world of gas reduction highfire. Students mix
their own clay and work with a variety of shop glazes. 3D is designed
as Introduction to Sculpture. We introduce students to a variety of
materials and processes. The most important concept we cover is
thinking three-dimensionally.
Augusta State University is part of the Georgia university system.
We're located in Augusta, Georgia, which is a pleasant town located an
hour and a quarter from Columbia, SC and two hours and a quarter from
Atlanta. ASU offers both the BFA and BA degrees in art. We have a
really fine program with professors who are dedicated teachers and
committed artists. We have a nice ceramics and sculpture facility and
many students who are doing well.
If you are interested in this position and want to inquire about it,
you can call me, Priscilla Hollingsworth, at (706)667-4871 (office, with
