Amy...I read your post below and just realized why I am having a little
trouble adjusting to using the electric wheel I just aquired, after 18
years of using kickwheels. I have noticed a tendency to want to keep
accelerating if the pulling up of a pot is going smoothly. You know how
skills like throwing or sewing , typing, etc are whole body memory
skills....my body is confused and thinks I'm sewing! Using a foot pedal,
must be sewing. Things going well, speed up! It's not quite that bad;
I've made some decent pots on the Pacifica and it IS nicer to be able to
keep pulling up without having to kick when doing the larger things. I'm
not getting rid of the kickwheels either; there has always been something
joyful and exhilarating about providing the revolutions of the wheel that I
need, to make my pots.
