raku glaze advice

I have a recipe for a gloss base and a matte base, and several different
recipes of various combinations of colorants. I'm wondering if, in
general, can I add the colorant percentages given in other raku recipes
(that don't use the same base recipe), and expect results similar to the
original recipe? In other words, how much do the ingredients, other
than the colorants, affect the final result?

Thanks,

Paul - Base glaze can sometimes have a big effect on color results from
some metallic oxides, specifically copper which is used alot in raku
glazes. An alkaine glaze will push the color towards turquoise while
others will go towards green. Of course with different amounts of
reduction all sorts of other cloors will occur. Look through some
general texts on pottery as how different glaze bases will affect color.
