------------------
First, thanks to the good folks who responded to my query about pinholes on =
the
outside. Unfortunately, I had already tried some of the suggestions, but I =
plan
to extend my holding time when I'm not using runny glazes and see how that
works. I do put my pots under running water, but very quickly, and usually =
not
immediately before glazing. I think I was told that the glaze wouldn't =
absorb
if the pot was too wet.

On the =22what is art?=22 thread, I have to report my experience yesterday =
at my
first guild sale. Numerous people, looking at some of my pots with =
underglazed
flowers, funky animals, etc., told me that they had known I was making pots,=
but
they had had no idea that I was an artist too=21 Made me chuckle. Other =
than an
aching back from lots of lifting and then standing on a hard floor all day, =
I
had a great time at the sale. Sold a fair amount and was pleased to see =
that my
favorites were generally the ones to go. Which is not to say that there =
weren't
quite a few pots left over. . . .

Now I have to figure out how to keep doing pottery but also do the other =
things
that are important to me. What do people who need to sleep 8 hours a night=
do
about prioritizing?? I'm essentially retired, but find there's never enough
time even now to do the volunteer things I think are important, get the =
exercise
that I need/want, spend time with family/friends, do my part-time left-over
professional work which is important to me . . . and pot. Would love to =
here
how others manage this, and if there are others who supposedly have lots of
=22free time=22 but still get frustrated by not enough time.

Joan who's juggling in Alaska and soon to leave for 12 days so I may not =
respond
to posts quickly. . .
