The slip will act like a sort of crude terra siggillata and when you go to
burnish it in your regular fashion (just before dry), you will be amazed at
how fast your work progresses. Especialy if you use a 60 grog clay such as
soldate 60 this process will work miracles and can save hours if you do large
pieces.
I have used it on Raku to burnish a ring lip on round pots with the white
crackle glaze below, to get a nice shiny black ring at the top to contrast
the white.
