brent pedal

Alisa:
You need to adjust the rheostat inside your foot pedal. Turn the wheel
off, and take the bottom plate off your pedal (4 small screws). You'll see a
black plate mounted at the cord end with 2 colored circular disks on it. The
top disk is labeled 'Hi' and is red. The bottom disk is labeled 'Lo' and is
blue. Turn the wheel on. With a slot head screw driver, adjust the 'Lo'
disk until your wheel does not turn when there is no pressure applied to the
pedal. This is also a great time to adjust your 'Hi' speed if it has seemed
too fast or slow for you. That's it.

Now that the Brent has been explained, does anybody know how to make these
adjustments on the Pacifica?
I looked inside the foot pedal of a Pacifica and there is an entirely
different setup. They have a magnet that moves when the pedal is moved and
a little transistor like device that is almost certainly a magnetoresistor.
It's resistance will change as the strength of the magnetic field on its
chip varies. This device is a clever replacement for the main speed control
pot of most other wheels - cheap and neat design. I wish I had thought of
it.
The adjustment pots. Must be in the control box if there are any.
Trouble with fooling with the pots on the control board is you may screw up
the feedback adjustment and some other circuit functions, depending on the
design of the control board.
You have to have instructions from the manufacturer and some of them are in
horror that you would even think of going into the control box. Hence no
instructions for us peons.
Anybody with experience on this?

Below are the instructions for adjusting the top speed from my Pacifica
owner's manual (purchased about a year ago). No other wheel speed
adjustments are listed and no hints as to what the torx screw does.

-----------------------------
Adjust "Top Speed"

The wheel head speed adjustment screw (Phillips type) is located directly
below the hex bolt on the foot pedal. Turn the screw clockwise to decrease
wheel head speed and counter clockwise to increase wheel head speed.

NEVER ADJUST THE TORX SCREW LOCATED 3" FORWARD OF THE PEDAL PIVOT POINT
UNLESS DIRECTED TO DO SO BY AN AUTHORIZED PACIFICA DEALER.

I would like to add to be very careful when making the adjustments to the
pedal. I adjusting mine and broke the high speed adjuster. Another $35
dollars later I was back in business.

You can adjust your foot pedal according to the instructions in your new =
owners'
packet. You take the screws out of the bottom of the pedal and adjust the =
fast
and slow indicators. I have to do this periodically on mine, and it works =
fine.
Can't figure out why it slips, but the correction isn't much trouble.
Good luck, and good potting=21
