pacifica pedal adjustment (was brent pedal)

Fred: I just went through this with my Pacifica. It had started to lurch
and hesitate and would not get going unless the pedal was pushed to a pretty
high rpm. After it got going, I could reduce the rpm's by easing back on
the pedal. I pulled the bottom off the pedal for a looksee and adjusted the
screw coming out of the side of the pedal. This helped a teeny bit but did
not alleviate the entire problem. I emailed Laguna from their website and
they faxed me a sheet with instructions and a very clear, understandable
drawing of the inside of the control box and the adjustments to be made.

The control box is really pretty simple in design. Once you get it off
your
wheel and undo the screws, you should see, just under the fuse on my box,
two little round dealybobbers with what appear to be little arrows in them.
the one on the left is marked IR. With a very small screwdriver, turn the
IR to the 10 o'clock position. The one on the right is marked CL and should
be in the 3 o'clock position. As it states on the info I have "These
adjustments are very sensitive, you may need to turn past the setting mark
and then back to the setting mark to get the correct response from the
control unit."

This helped immensely with the lurching but not completely. I messed around
with the ground wire from the control box to the motor frame and found that
this manipulation also helped. I loosened it up a bit. Now I'm back to
normal with everything. Thank God or whatever diety you subscribe to.
