Dear Llewellyn,
I generally use EPK (edgar plastic kaolin from
Florida) if it is specifically called for in a recipe. Otherwise I use
Putnam or Georgia kaolin, whatever I have most of. I have not found that
there is any difference in the glaze results. I have looked at the clay
analyses charts that I have and notice very small differences and the
disclaimer that the percentages given are close estimations and should be
considered only as an average.
