Wendy et al,

I should think the Alfred glass program would be well worth considering.
As a student there I did both glass and ceramics. I believe glass
students are alotted two three hour sessions per week, blowing and
working the glass, perhaps longer. With all the heat I usually pooped
out and quit before the three hours was up, and I think that time slots
open as others do the same. I seem to recall that every year there would
be perhaps three or four really serious students.

I cannot recall the name of the new head of the glass department there
(new being within the last ten years) though I have understood he is
highly regarded. But another teacher is Fred Tschida, whom students just
love. Fred's neon class has to be one of the best around. Every year he
organizes a light show that attracts artists from all over the east
coast.

You may know about the glass museum at Corning, just 50 miles from
Alfred. If you get a chance it's well worth checking out.
