Hello all,
Does anyone have any personal experience with cost-effective ways of
shipping from USA to Canada?
UPS is so expensive for bulky things like my lights that shipping prices
them out of the market. However, our local postal workers have misquoted
two out of the last three packages I sent and the boxes bounced (ouch). The
third package is in limbo in the BC customs house.
If I can't get things up there at reasonable rates, I'll never get my
lights among the Northern lights ... never master the universal
interrogative gutteral "eh?" ... never write off a ski trip to Whistler...
any suggestions welcome.
TIA

Jeff, I have had very good experiences using Fedex, ground or air. Here, at
Mount Royal College in Calgary, our receiving dept suggests using Fedex as the
prices they quote include any brokerage fees. In all dealings with UPS the
brokerage fees have been outragous and not quoted in their shipping fees. Also,
on a recent trip to Montana to retreive an antique car I had a breif discussion
with Canadian customs regarding impotring to Canada. I was informed that on any
itme with a value of less than $1,500.00 Cdn the brokering may be done by the
importer therefore avoiding middleman brokerage fees.
Hope this helps.
