I'll be in Manhattan this coming weekend. Is there anything special to see
in the arts?

>> There was a show at the Crafts Museum which was work from the
Southwest by indigenous craftspeople/artists..wonderful, because of the
incorporation of classical traditions with contemporary ideas and
aesthetics..I'm terrible on names and i didn't spring for the expensive
catalogue, but i know there will be a review with photos in one of the
craft magazines...Really exciting...
the Folk art museum was lovely..great building and I always get off on
the strength of impulse to create which impells people, even without a
tradition or education or reguylar materials.........the Gauguin show at
the Met, great color, ....didn't particularly enjoy the Eakins show, but
the Oldenburg trowel on the roof garden was a hoot, and the real heavenly
place there is the African collection..If people go to NYC and see
nothing else but that they should be satisfied....the Schiele(talk about
sensuality !) show along with Klimt at the Neue Museum was wonderful..oh
yes, Victorian Nudes at the Brooklyn. Museum...tallk about censorship;
they did it with prettification and soft edges.....
I'm not great at reviews, forgetting names etc but I get nourished by
looking and it lasts a while..
