glaze stability data base

updated fri 8 oct 99

John Hesselberth on thu 7 oct 99

I have finally compiled and published, on my web site, the leaching test
data that I have had done myself or that others (Diane Woloshyn and
Leslie St. Clair) have shared on Clayart.

This is a "work in progress" and I have 15 cone 6 glazes posted at the
present time. In checking through my records, I could not find any cone
06 or 10 glazes that anyone has reported testing. If anyone would like
to to add their data I will be more than happy to do that. Or if I have
missed seeing or misplaced some of the data others have shared, please
send it to me again. I would also welcome photos of any of the glazes I
have posted. I will gradually get my own added also. I am also trying to
make this area of my web site a convenient reference point for
information on things like water standards, testing procedures, etc.

To visit, go to my home page (address below) and then to the section on
glaze stability.

Any suggestions for additions, corrections, better clarity, etc. are
welcome.

"It is time for potters to claim their proper field. Pottery in its pure
form relies neither on sculptural additions nor on pictorial decorations.
but on the counterpoint of form, design, colour, texture and the quality
of the material, all directed to a function." Michael Cardew in "Pioneer
