Hi Nina.....

Someone just posted the idea that you must become aware of body positions
and uses and adjust them as you go.

First, I'd strongly recommend a series of standard stretches each day before
throwing....kind of gets the muscles loosened and balanced.

Second, tilt your seat forward a few degrees, making first that is high
enough to keep your legs at or below the hip.

And as was noted, get both feet level by blocking the non-accelerator
foot....I even make sure the block is slanted like the foot pedal.

I found a GREAT throwing chair from Northern Equipment. A bit pricey at
$115, but it's got a small back rest, full swivel (no twisting with pots in
hand) big enough wheels to roll easily over dirty floors. Plenty of
padding. It's a mechanics chair Item number 33795-B941. 1-800-556-7885.

Still plan to try the throwing (standing) up position, but haven't gotten to
it.

I'm probably going to embarrass myself by jumping in here because I haven't
been following this thread from the beginning, but here goes:

We bought the extension legs from Brent for our CXC. The legs have a tube
within a tube that allows for adjusting the height, but I found that I liked
it best with the inner tube almost all the way down (as short as possible)
and I am 6'0" tall.

What I also found is that it was _very_ difficult to center. When I sit and
throw, I brace my left elbow against my left thigh and really use my leg
strength, not my arm, for centering. When standing, I lose the ability to
use my leg for centering.

Once centered, though, Wow!, I really like it. It was easier on my body, I
could see better, and I could move my body more easily. It seemed much
easier to work on tall items, as well (tall for me is anything over about 12
inches!).

I don't recommend it, unless you're on a sailboat with the wind at your =
back.
I endorse the old head in the bowl method.
