Hi Nina,

Good luck with your upcoming show. I think you're best off presenting
yourself in a professional manner so yes you should hand out business cards
and wrap each piece for your customers. I use white tissue and new brown bags
with a handle that I buy at a paper wholesaler. Sometimes I stuff the bag
with newspaper. I also have a color postcard that I give out to everyone who
makes a purchase and to others who seem really interested. I ordered mine
through Modern Postcard - they advertise in the back of CM and other art
magazines. I've gotten a lot of orders from these. I give everyone a receipt
with my name, etc. on it in case they want to contact me. And for display I
use pedestals and tables. I do hand-building and only take 30 to 40 pieces to
a show. The type of display that I'm seeing a lot of these days and really
like is an "artist studio" look. People take actual pieces of furniture -
like antique looking bookshelves- and set up a very homey but arty looking
room.
If you already have that sort of stuff it could be a good way to attract
attention - people seem to like going into that kind of booth. Otherwise
base your display on how many pieces you plan to show.

Hop this helps,
Beverly Crist
