Hi
I lived on the big island for about three years and made pottery, and my
girlfriend was there for about 13 years.
It is a wonderful place to make pottery, Hawaii.

But it is expensive to do. If you have a gas kiln then you have to pay
around 2 dollars a gallon for the gas, and the electricity is expensive
also.
getting the materials there is no big problem, we used to buy from laguna
and have it shipped. Over water shipping is cheaper than our shipping here
on the mainland.
Raku is big over in Hawaii, and people love it.
the only other problem is the type of pottery you make.
Art in Hawaii is a tricky thing,
art that is made with a hawianna look sells easier, so if you are going to
work on a personal expression, be ready to collect yourself.
also shipping from the island vi ups or fed express is expensive

but living there will change your life.
I say go for it,
