A Ceramic Workshop, demonstrations, slides, discussion, will be held on
Saturday afternoon, October 30, 1999 from 1-5 PM at the Durham School of
the Arts on Minerva Street, enter at the blue door! Parking is available
across the street from the school on Minerva.

Presenters will be contemporary ceramic artists, David MacDonald, Syracuse
University; Winnie Owens-Hart, Howard University and Gainsville, VA; and
Yvonne Edwards-Tucker, Tallahassee A & M, FL. Contemporary ceramic work
by these artists will be featured in the Exhibition/Sale

CONTEMPORARY CERAMICS: 1999, THE WORK OF AFRICAN AMERICAN CERAMIC ARTISTS

opening at the NCCU Aart Museum on Sunday, October 31, 1999 from 2-5 PM
and continuing through December 7,. Museum hours are: Tues.-Fri. 9-5;
Sundays: 2-5 PM; closed Saturday, Monday and other University holidays.

This workshop is made possible through a generous donation from Glaxo
Wellcome, Inc., the Marriott at the Civic Center in Durham, and with the
cooperation of the Durham School of the Arts and the NCCU Art Museum.

CONTEMPORARY CERAMICS: 1999 is the first time that these nineteen African
American contemporary ceramic artists from ten different states will have
their work shown together in North Carolina. Kenneth Rodgers, Director of
the NCCU Art Museum and its Advisory Board, Mrs. Carolyn Collins, Chair,
recognized this as an opportunity to offer a new venue to these artists,
to bring awareness to the museum,, and to create an educational
opportunity for students, teachers and collectors.
